In other places from the Sierra lie hundreds of scaled-down lakes, some earlier mentioned the timberline in areas of tumbled granite and smooth-walled canyons. West on the Sierra Nevada is Clear Lake; at 67 sq. miles (174 square km), it is actually the biggest pure lake wholly within the condition.
